As we walked around Brest I noticed a yellow mini tanker on the pavement dispensing a drink. There were several dotted around and judging by the queue it was popular stuff. I had to try some. It tasted like the smell of mum's slug juice. A sort of grainy, wheaty, type taste, not too sweet. I have also tried a dark bottled version which tasted like a very sweet dark beer with no alcohol. I've done the research and it called Kvas. It's made out of rye bread. You can read more here.
Pleased I tried it, won't rush to have it again.
Mike has tried alcohol free beer and he says it tastes very good. Travel never ceases to surprise me. Alcohol free beer? Belarus? Wasn't expecting that.
