My dad was admitted into hospital on the 25th August, fortunately he's been released and fully on the mend. As my boss is me I went down to Gloucestershire to stay with Mum and help around the house and garden, and accompany her for hospital visits.
My inside knowledge of the National Health Service and fluency in medicalese also came in handy. Although there were a couple of hiccups in the early days of his stay, where we met a staff nurse who needed a career change. With her lack of skill, insight and personality I can't begin to imagine what would suit, however she's definitely not cut out for this one. Anyway, for the daily bombardment of negativity we receive from the media about healthcare, Dad was in good hands, once we escaped from the misfit. I stayed for ten days and have had a weekend off in Norwich with Mike.
We hit the town on Friday night and went to the Reload Festival on Saturday. Our gang were more entertaining than some of the performers but it was a good day out overall. Especially as I remembered sooner rather than later that I'd left the hair straighteners on and we made it back to the flat in time. That scenario doesn't bear thinking about.
So now I'm on my way back to the West Country. Treated myself to the train for speed and comfort. As for those deadlines and goals, the upcoming publication of my book, 'Motorhome Life, What You Need To Know, Before You Go' is delayed. I was working towards September 13th but it will now be available during October.
I am untroubled by this temporary setback, the fact that I am in the UK and not galavanting means that I'm able to help my folks out, which far outweighs my current ambitions.
Have a great week, Ali
PS, sorry if they're are typos and errors in this post. I'm on the train and typing on the phone.
