Lovely drive today, tiny villages along the roadside, just wooden huts which looked pretty and well cared for but it must be an extremely harsh existence. There were no shops in the villages so it must have been subsistence living.
We got to Hrodna at 4pm and found a TIR park, then cycled straight in to town to have a look around. Pleasant town, nice well manicured parks and the old town had been well restored after WWII. We found a cafe, had a few drinks then a pizza. The 'champagne' proved to be a very acceptable drop of fizz and Mike managed to get alcohol free beer. When we first arrived at the pizza restauarant we were told by the Maitre D' that they didn't have a table. We were really hungry and Jon just placed his hands together as it to pray ferverently, 'we're English' he pleaded, 'please'. It worked, they had a table after all.
I love travel, any type. There is always a buzz in finding & exploring a place for the first time, meeting and making new friends and if you return things are never quite the same.
