' My wife went to Purgatory and all I got was this lousy t shirt'.
Imagine living in Purgatory. Do they have a cemetery there? Would they really want to die in Purgatory? My family live in Purgatory, I went to school in Purgatory. Would you want a holiday in Purgatory or a meal? Perhaps just a drink and an insurance policy that you could leave. We can't even come close, being sent to Coventry just isn't the same. Paul Weller sang 'A Town Called Malice' and you could sing 'A Place Called Purgatory' to the same tune. Many places give a clue to their origins by the name, think of Sweetwater, Clearwater or Death Valley in the States. Perhaps being a Catholic Country there had to be a Purgatory somewhere. Anyway, as it's just up the road, Mike is going to walk the trail. He'll come back with a report on the place. To Purgatory and back, not even at the end of a lifetime, but in the same day- what an achievement!
